On November 18, 2011 Dr. Ramin Golesorkhi addressed the new ground motion provisions of ASCE 7-10 in a presentation at Langan’s NY Learning Center. This presentation was a part of a Langan’s Technical Center of Excellence series of presentations. The new ASCE 7-10 provisions present a significant change from previous codes.
The presentation discussed the implications of these changes in seismic design for the West and the East coast and gave examples from a comparative study in California. The presentation was well attended by more than 50 people including some of the best New York Structural Engineers from the public and private sector, as well as Langan Engineers from NY and other Langan offices on the East coast. The other offices were able to watch the presentation real time via videoconferencing and ask questions in the end.
Dr. Golesorkhi has more than 23 years of experience in seismic analysis and foundation engineering. He provides engineering consultation for projects involving deep excavation, tunneling, foundation support and settlement, vertical and lateral evaluation of pile foundations, stability of earth structures, seismic soil-structure interaction, seismic hazard evaluation, ground response analysis, liquefaction potential evaluation, evaluation of ground improvement techniques, and other geotechnical and environmental projects.
